States’ Implementation Of Exchanges May Decide Fate Of ACA.

Over the holiday weekend through today, a number of national outlets reported on exchange implementation occurring across the US. Notably, from a national perspective, Bloomberg News Share to FacebookShare to Twitter (5/28, Nussbaum) reports that the fate of the Affordable Care Act is “being decided far from Capitol Hill,” as “states from New York to California” work to implement the law’s insurance exchanges before the October 1 deadline. With just four months to go, the article concludes that “the prognosis is mixed.” For example, some states face “technical hurdles” and will “barely make it.” However, California’s recent announcement showed that despite “doom-and-gloom” estimates, premiums in that state will fall because of the law.
